Wedding florals for a Portland wedding held at Castaway, using sweet pea, roses, anemone, lisianthus and other fresh blooms

Every event is designed with intention and care, from the atmosphere we create out of your vision to the way each flower design speaks to you.

Wedding Flowers in Portland, Oregon

A PNW wedding is an extraordinary event in which we are privileged to participate if the fit is right for both of us.

We see weddings as total atmospheres that our flower designs help create, starting with whatever the bride and groom’s vision is.

At Portmanteau Flower Company, we approach wedding florals in Portland as an integral part of that atmosphere. Not as mere decoration, but as a language to be remembered, like a great poem one cherishes. The poetry of wedding flowers sings through color, movement, texture, and luxurious restraint.

Guided by a simple idea—flowers should belong to your moment.

Bird, he was brought low, burning in the bride bed of love, in the whirlpool at the wanting centre, in the folds of paradise, in the spun bud of the world. And she rose with him flowering . . . —Dylan Thomas

Sculptural Florals for Portland Weddings

We believe in petalled sculptures, in richly composed floral art. Our moving designs (in the twin sense of motion on the eyes and of emotion) are not built from some imaginary template of what a wedding ought to look like.

Each arrangement begins with the venue space itself, considered:

  • the filtered light of a garden ceremony at the Victorian Belle

  • the architectural lines of an industrial venue like the Castaway

  • the open vista of a winery or a ranch in the Columbia River Gorge

  • the quiet intimacy of a private estate or coastal setting

From there, we consider proportion, movement, and tone—all based upon what you tell us about your vision. A centerpiece, for example, is not just an object—it is a form that shapes how a welcome table feels. A tablescape of bud vases or a table runner is meant to add deeply to your guests enjoyment and to the beauty of the setting. An arch or a chuppah installation is not just a backdrop—it is a presence within the ceremony.

Then there are all the personals that we count equally special and important: bridal bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, flower crowns.

We create custom wedding flowers in Portland that are sculptural, expressive, and deeply considered—arrangements that feel as though they could not exist anywhere else but at your wedding.

Below is a full description of how our process works—from inquiry all the way through to execution on wedding day!

“You GUYS! I am so overjoyed and just beyond impressed with how everything turned out. It was so magical and perfect. I was truly in awe that it was exactly my vision and will forever be grateful. Thank you for just such a spectacular day. You’ll always have a special place in our story, and the best day of our lives!”

Floral Aesthetics: Seasonal, Refined, Intentional

We all have our own aesthetic linked to who we are and our place in the Portland scene. Some like elegant and modern; others love garden-party style wildness; some like contemporary color blocking! Our designs can be as normal or as unique as you desire. The subdued, the outrageous. Nothing is off limits, nothing is universal, all is personal preference. And we follow the style that suits you, which often is reflected in your Pinterest board.

That’s what makes each wedding so cool for us—getting to hear and explore the types of art that each one loves, different as they may be. There is no uniformity or standard for what is possible in wedding flowers.

We source premium blooms in season from local farms and the grower’s association with an emphasis on quality, character, and seasonal integrity. Spring tulips and peonies that move and open. Summer garden roses with depth and fragrance. Autumn textures that feel grounded and atmospheric. Seasons should inform the design.

The truth is that the color palette belongs to you also, not just the style, as do the choice of blooms. This is your wedding, not ours. We are here to fulfill your vision in the best possible ways we know how, with our suggestions and guidance if you feel like you need it.

For couples seeking a Portland wedding florist, we care deeply about making your day special with the best wedding flowers and designs that are in our grasp.

A Collaborative Process

We begin with a conversation with you. We wouldn’t know how else to begin.

For those planning a wedding in Portland, Oregon, and seeking something intentional, sculptural, and distinctive, we offer a considered and collaborative approach—one that honors both the occasion and the environment in which it unfolds. We are interested in how you want your wedding to feel.

Unlike some florists, we don’t offer uniform packages of florals because we know that every bride has a unique vision of the kinds of florals that you want at your wedding.

Florals can range, depending on how much is desired, from a small $1,000 wedding to a more grand $10,000 or more. But we have to start by understanding the scope.

So our process is to let you inquire with us as the initial contact through our inquiry page. From there, we set up a consultation with you, knowing a bit from your inquiry about the specific florals you want. Here is where we go into much greater detail with you and take a look at your pictures or your Pinterest likes for style and color scheme.

Once that has taken place, we can then write an estimate to send you for your approval or adjustment, and then move on to the final (and always still adjustable) wedding contract. At this point, if you accept, you are on our calendar!

Then we have a final conversation close to wedding day before the final preparations for full execution at the venue of your vision.

Designing for Kindred Spirits

We design wedding flowers for those who feel deeply. For couples who see florals as more than decor—as a poetic and symbolic language woven throughout their event day.

We work joyfully with luxury weddings and refined events, defining luxury not by excess, but by thoughtfulness, lyrical beauty, and crafted care. By designs that feel considered, personal, and serenely powerful.

We are poets and sculptors in petalled wonder.

Our wedding florals tell the story that our wedding bride and groom want to be told. And if left up to us, a story of connection, of place, of moments made unforgettable.

Why We Do This

At its heart, our work is about service and joy. It is about solving complex designs with grace and creating beauty that eases stress, elevates the setting, and ultimately brings happiness.

Seeing a couple step into their ceremony space for the first time.

Witnessing a room transform.

Sharing the smiles, the wonder, the gratitude. This is the reward of our designs for us.
